Dental implants have turned out to be a prevalent prosthetic treatment option in recent years. However, a scarcity of public knowledge and the treatment’s expense function as roadblocks, limiting their application. Materials and Methods: The Department of Periodontics, Himachal Dental College, Sundernagar, Mandi, Himachal Pradesh performed a questionnaire-based survey to analyze participants’ knowledge, attitude, and acceptance of the worth of restoring missing teeth with dental implants. Analytical statistics version 7.0 of the Epi Info program was used. Results: A significant conclusion was that 55% of the population did not want any treatment, whereas 35% of those who took part in the survey selected fixed prosthesis to replace missing teeth. A considerable percentage of patients were cognizant of tooth replacement possibilities, but dental implants were not widely known. Conclusion: The biggest impediments to provide dental implant therapy appear to be high costs and a lack of information. Efforts to educate and raise knowledge of implants among the general public are required.

Background and Objectives: Pulpotomy is a highly successful treatment modality in primary teeth with carious exposure. With the advent of new bioceramic materials and our advanced knowledge of pulp biology, there is successful clinical use of pulpotomy in permanent teeth also. This study was conducted to assess the treatment outcome following pulpotomy using bioceramic materials in carious exposed permanent posterior teeth based on clinical evaluation at 3, 6, and 12 months follow-up and radiographic evaluation at 12 months or any time during the follow-up period if symptomatic. Clinically visible coronal discoloration and diffuse calcification were also assessed. Materials and Methods: Sixty-eight patients of the age group 12–50 years satisfying the inclusion criteria were enrolled in the current study. Pulpotomy medicaments used were Biodentine and MTA. Sodium hypochlorite was used for hemostasis. Permanent restoration given was composite. Follow-up intervals were 3, 6, and 12 months. Outcome evaluation was based on clinical and radiographic criteria. The association of success or failure with the selected covariates was done using the χ² test. Results: For the follow-up period as far as 12 months, 47 of the 55 teeth showed successful outcomes (85.5% clinical and radiographic success), and the recall rate was 80.8%. No obvious crown discoloration or diffuse calcification was noted in any of the cases. Age, sex, tooth type, and pre-operative symptoms had no effect on the outcome. Type of bioceramic material and time to stop bleeding had statistically significant effects on outcome. Conclusion: In light of the observations in the present study, it can be concluded that pulpotomy is a successful treatment alternative to root canal treatment in vital permanent teeth with carious exposure in indicated cases. More clinical studies with a larger sample size and longer follow-up periods are required to refine the case selection criteria followed for pulpotomy procedure.

Introduction: The role of oral health professionals includes providing preventive services and restorative treatment along with anticipatory guidance for pregnant women and their children. Aim: The objective of the study was to assess the knowledge, attitude, and practice among dental interns and final-year students in treating pregnant women. Materials and Methods: A questionnaire study was conducted in a private dental college in Daman city which included 100 students. A study-specific questionnaire was prepared to collect the data. Descriptive analysis was done. Statistical analysis was done with the help of Statistical Package for Social Sciences version 17 (SPSS Inc., IBM, Chicago, IL, USA). Results: On average, there was enough knowledge among students regarding oral health. Nearly 39.3% of students had sufficient knowledge regarding management of pregnant women in a dental chair, and the students considered textbooks (39%) and lectures (40%) as their prime source of knowledge. About 43% of the clinical students educated pregnant patients regarding their oral health and its influence on the fetus. Regarding the antibiotic and analgesic of choice for pregnant women, very few had other options other than amoxicillin (32%) and paracetamol (68%). Conclusion: The finding underscores the knowledge and information of dental students in the fundamentals of dental management of pregnant women to be satisfactory. Improvement is needed to increase the awareness of clinical students toward different types of critical treatment.

Background: The antimicrobial property of calcium hydroxide [Ca(OH)₂] is broadly utilized. It has the capability to dissolve organic tissues as well as to inactivate bacterial endotoxins. The goal of this trial is to compare the capability of three different Ca(OH)₂-containing herbal pastes with diffuse ions via dentinal tubules, as well as the Ca(OH)₂ paste in addition to saline. Materials and Methods: In this trial, 60 single-rooted premolar teeth were utilized. The root canals were prepared after the tooth crowns were removed. Four groups were produced based on the channel to be utilized for formulating calcium hydroxide pastes: Ca(OH)₂ saline paste (control group), Ca(OH)₂ neem, Ca(OH)₂ aloe vera, and Ca(OH)₂ turmeric paste (groups II, III, and IV). Calcium hydroxide herbal paste dressings were employed after biomechanical preparation followed by sealing with resin-based cement. The teeth were positioned in containers filled with distilled water, and the pH of the water was recorded at 3-, 24-, and 168-h intervals. Results: The current trial found that all herbal pastes permitted ion diffusion, but aloe vera pastes permitted for more ion diffusion and a significant upsurge in pH, indicating improved backing for calcium hydroxide activity. Conclusion: Aloe vera improved Ca(OH)₂ diffusion via dentinal tubules, boosting its activity; hence, we recommend it as a channel for intracanal medication placement.

Periodontitis is a prevalent condition that affects more than 10% of individuals worldwide. Periodontitis may lead to tooth loss besides a worse quality of life in severe instances. Periodontitis has a complex etiology. In a vulnerable host, a subgingival dental biofilm provokes an inflammatory as well as immunological response, eventually leading to irreparable loss of the periodontium (alveolar bone as well as periodontal ligament). Dental practitioners must grasp the pathogenesis, main etiology, risk factors, contributing variables, together with therapy regimens in order to effectively manage periodontitis. Resolvins enhance inflammation resolution via a variety of ways, including limiting neutrophil penetration and phagocytosing apoptotic neutrophils to remove the lesion, in addition to improving inflammation clearance inside the lesion to endorse tissue regeneration.

Soft tissue diode lasers are becoming popular among clinicians due to their potential value in surgical procedures providing, surface sterilization, dry surgical field, and increased patient acceptance. Twenty-five patients with different soft tissue lesions were selected, and soft tissue diode laser was used for excision and wound healing was assessed by the visual method with photographs. No discomfort to the patient during and after the laser procedure was observed. In spite of using minimal local anesthesia, avoiding placement of sutures, and not prescribing any antibiotics, minimal bleeding, no edema, and good wound healing were observed. We conclude that laser treatments can be superior to conventional approaches with regard to easy ablation, decontamination, and hemostasis and are less painful during and after the procedure.

Introduction: Developmental disturbances of the tongue can harmfully distress the development of the surrounding structures. We report a rare type of non-syndromic, complete ankyloglossia associated with impacted permanent posterior tooth and its surgical intervention. Case Presentation: An 18-year-old female patient having main complaint of difficulty in moving tongue was found to have Class IV ankyloglossia according to Kotlow’s classification with impacted 44. Management: Surgical frenectomy under general anesthesia was done, and follow-up after 6 months revealed tension-free movements and betterment in speech. Conclusion: Ankyloglossia impairs functions, for example, mastication, speech, and swallowing. This case report offers guidelines which can be used for therapy of a tongue constraint consequential from complete ankyloglossia and impacted tooth.
