Background: Root canal treatment (RCT) is one of the most apprehensive procedures in dentistry. Various factors are responsible for the treatment choice of a patient. The present study was conducted with the aim to explore knowledge and attitude toward endodontic treatment among patients visiting to a private dental college. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional, questionnaire, exploratory study with random sampling was used. Informed consent was taken from the patient included in the survey. The interview was conducted in 2 months. 235 patients were included in the survey. Results: The majority of study participants [128 (58%)] thought RCT to be filling of teeth, which includes 92 (68%) of study participants who did not undergo RCT. Among all study participants, 76 (56%) of patients who had not undergone RCT thought that RCT is painful, whereas 71 (71%) of study participants who had undergone RCT thought that RCT is not painful. Conclusion: From above, it is concluded that better knowledge, positive attitude, and good practice regarding endodontic treatment were present among study subjects who had a history of endodontic treatment.

Background: Tobacco Consumption is a public health challenge In India. The purpose of this study was to examine occupation-, education-, and gender-specific patterns of tobacco use and knowledge of its health effects among 1000 rural Asian Indians ≥18 years in Gujarat. Materials and Methods: A statewide, community-based, cross-sectional survey was conducted in Gujarat, using face-to-face interviews. Results: Tobacco consumption was significantly higher among males, those who were self-employed, and those with elementary education. The prevalence was higher among males than females. Adjusted ORs for tobacco use showed a strong gradient by age and educational level. Conclusion: Effective educational programs should be tailored by gender to improve knowledge of health risks and dispel myths about the perceived benefits of tobacco.

Background: The aim of this study is to evaluate the self-confidence of undergraduate dental students in relation to oral and maxillofacial surgery (OMFS) to assess the teaching curriculum in Assam using a validated questionnaire originally developed by the Association of British Academic Oral Maxillofacial Surgeons (ABAOMS). Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional survey of internship year (n = 100) dentistry students was conducted in Assam. The ABAOMS questionnaire is composed of 17 questions assessing various areas of the undergraduate OMFS curriculum. The response options to the questionnaire utilized a Likert scale. Independent sample t-tests were performed to assess the difference in responses between the two-year groups. Spearman’s rho correlations were calculated to measure the strength of association between confidence in all aspects of surgical and forceps exodontia. Results: A total of 100 questionnaires were completed by the students. The majority of the students expressed feelings of confidence that they have enough knowledge to undertake independent practice (63%). General aspects of the questionnaire were answered favorably except for surgical extraction of teeth, in which both classes reported a lower level of self-confidence. Conclusion: Students felt comfortable with exodontia using forceps and elevators, root removal, managing acute pericoronitis, managing hemorrhage from a socket, assessing impacted teeth, and recognizing the clinical features of potentially malignant and malignant lesions of the oral cavity. They reported a lower level of confidence in performing surgical procedures.

During COVID-19 pandemic, mucormycosis has gained limelight with inadvertent increase in number of cases, despite being an uncommon, opportunistic, invasive mycotic infection otherwise. Suspected mucormycosis cases require rapid therapeutic and diagnostic intervention; delayed initiation of treatment is associated with increased mortality. It is of particular interest to prosthodontist because of the presenting symptoms and the oral and facial defects that result from the extensive surgical resection done in order to treat such aggressive disease.

Health cloud computing is a recent and fast growing area of development in health care. Medicine is an increasingly data-intensive and collaborative endeavor. Advances in medicine and research generate considerable amounts of data to be processed and stored. Secondary use of clinical data with text- or data mining algorithms also entails a growing demand for dynamic, scalable resources. The biggest threat to the adoption in the healthcare domain is caused by involving external cloud partners: many issues of data safety and security are still to be solved. Thus, the objective of this scoping review was to identify the current state on cloud computing in health care beyond the traditional domain.

Iatrogenic mishaps are often encountered in dental office but ingestion of sharp objects such as endodontic file is the most undesirable accident, which can result in fatal complications. Moreover, these accidents are considered as a negligence of dentist from a legal point of view. A 45-year-old patient complained pain in the right lower back tooth since 1 week. The tooth was diagnosed with chronic irreversible pulpitis and a conventional root canal treatment was planned. Patient accidentally swallowed the file during the extirpation of the pulp from distal canal of molar with a 20 K endodontic file. No sign of respiratory distress was reported. Immediately anterior–posterior X-ray of chest and abdomen was taken. The file was located in the body of stomach and was successfully retrieved by endoscopy. This case report signifies that the dentist must follow the standard operating procedure (SOP), for example, use of rubber dam and hand files secured with dental floss to prevent catastrophic mishaps. Endoscopic management is the early, safe, and effective emergency procedure to retrieve a foreign body, especially sharp objects in the gastrointestinal tract to prevent further complications.

Mandibular second premolars with three canals (Type V, Vertucci) and separate foramina are very infrequent. The incidence of three canals in mandibular second premolar has been reported to be 0.46–0.5%. The present report describes non-surgical endodontic treatment of mandibular second premolar with three canals. In this case, three orifices were located in mesiobuccal, distobuccal, and lingual. The clinicians must be aware of such anatomical variations and be able to use a variety of tools for adequate diagnosis and management.

Ectopic tooth eruption in the dentate region of the jaws is common in clinical practice and is well described in the literature. Ectopic eruption into the nondentate zone, on the other hand, is uncommon and poorly described. Apart from the nasal septum, mandibular condyle, coronoid process, palate, the maxillary sinus is one such nondentate area that may contain such ectopic tooth eruptions. The incident hence ought to be added to the literature and analyzed because of its rarity and lack of consensus on its management. The treatment of choice is early surgical removal of the ectopic tooth, as well as enucleation of accompanying cysts, if any.
